After moaning for weeks about the rain and the cold...we are now all moaning about the heat and the humidity

I did read a post somewhere on fb written by an American (US) trying to explain why the British moan about the heat when the temperature isn't really that high (compared to other nations). Other countries don't realise just how far north we are, most of the year it's cool here...our homes are constructed to keep in heat wherever possible, double walled brick buildings with cavity wall insulation, roof insulation and double glazing. Air conditioning is only just starting to be available...and it's not built in but generally free standing units that not everybody can afford. We usually get 2-8 weeks of warm weather each year..maybe 3 weeks of which will be excruciatingly hot and muggy...
This American chap was used to living in a hot country, but said that he was really suffering in a stifling apartment in south London! (He said that we live in sealed concrete boxes!)

Walked the dogs this morning in light rain, but we lucked out in getting home just as the skies really opened. It has not stopped raining since then. There is no wind, just that relentless, brain-deadening sound. I really want to go to bed, but it's only 9 pm here & I don't want to be wide awake at 3 or 4 am.

Nice here too: 24°, mostly sunny but with some clouds blowing around. We even had a few drops of rain this morning. It's not supposed to get too hot this week, so that's fine with me although apparently tourists are complaining about the weather.

Thank you, Lugg! We had over 24 hours of relentless rain. It's not raining right this minute, but it is overcast. There is only a single bird singing outside. I guess all the others are wet and demoralized. According to the forecast, Beryl should be only a tropical storm if & when it hits the eastern coast of Mexico, although it might do some damage passing over the Yucatán peninsula. www.weatherbug.com/hurricane/coatepec-veracruz-mx

A cold layer is parked over the Bight and not even trying to move on eastwards. Temps usually in low teens but this morning we had minus 7C ... coldest morning since 1908. My fingers are purple...Are those sled dogs I hear?

We had the violent shower they promised us this morning immediately followed by a sunny day. But it is pretty windy.

Cool this morning (13°) but the forecast for the week seems to be heat and the predicted rain is postponed until next weekend.

Wet one minute, sunny the next. I got soaked when I took the dog for his walk this morning. Then the sun came out so I was dry by the time we got home.

1:30 pm -- I'm in the grocery store trapped like a rat. This is Noah's downpour. The street is flooding and taxis aren't stopping.
