This gentleman was participating in a 5 Km run for PAWS, an organisation for companion animals, on Whidbey Island. Most people walked with their pets. As for the outfit, what can I say?, it's an island.

He ran??! I saw the bibs but figured these guys couldn't possibly be runners.

No. There's a saying here on the West Coast, that all the nuts from the east rolled downhill here. And the islands are as far west as you can get.
And bjd, he probably strolled at a very leisurely pace. Maybe he took a shortcut, too. It was a charity event.

I've been in her shoes before, metaphorically speaking, and I know how I look under those circumstances!

Haven't looked in here in a while!
I'm echoing Htmb on Amboseli's double portrait.
Htmb, that is really a fabulous catch & a brilliant composition. I'm sure if we could step inside of Seurat's Un dimanche après-midi à l’Ile de la Grande Jatte, we'd find that lady in there somewhere.
Love your picture, Kerouac. The shock of red hair & the glassware somehow really "make" it.

What happened??! Apparently I replied to a bunch of pics that aren't even on this page. Didn't see this page until everything refreshed when I hit post. Amboseli ~~ what a capture! Dynamite photo.

I did a series of 16 photo portraits of some of the families in my Lombok village. They wanted me to do it as they had no other photos of themselves. Is anyone interested in seeing them if I post them here? I will have to scan and edit them first.

It makes me think of some of the portraits from this part of the world about 80 or 90 years ago when people didn't have cameras and it was a super special occasion to be able to pose for a photograph. Did you give them all multiple copies?

Thank you to Lizzy, Casi and htmb. It was just that, Kerouac, this was before smart phones and having a photo of yourself was highly prized. Each person received a framed copy of their pic and I had several loose copies I could give to other family members who missed out.
I am reminded how Kodak prints were always yellowish from true colour. The original photos here were taken and developed on Kodak stock. I took most of them late afternoon after people had finished work, showered and put on fresh clothes and were ready to socialise. I used a flash as fill in but was too close with some. The yellow tones are too strong and the photos look too grainy when scanned.
The villagers,however, were lovely!
