I wish you well with your surgery Lugg.
My wife had both her knees done and recovered well, although for number 2 she did get an infection which took a while to clear up
just keep your head down and do as you are told, there's a good girl

Ahhh ~ thanks! I was thinking it had been some time back & so it was. I asked because knee operations are now very common & probably much more efficient than they were almost six years ago. I know you'll do well!

So todays pre - op work up was a mixed bag - Bloods and MRSA swabs are still awaited. ECG - heart normal , lungs and function - normal , diabetes screen normal- all other stuff eg urine, skin etc normal . My BP however was sky high - I explained that this is normal for me when I am stressed, previous highs when in a RTA - at an OPD , during pregnancy all ok after wards ...but now I have to monitor it over the next two weeks and show that at home it is normal when not stressed . A friend of my niece has come up trumps with the kit so I can do some home readings - if it still shows high reading then hopefully my GP can sort in time for me to have the op.

Do they expect you not to watch the news while at home? Lol - actually, although it is of course very serious for us in the UK, I am quite enjoying seeing the Tory party implode.

They really are acting out the old saying about giving 'em enough rope, etc.

So my BP remains high and have now started on medication - its not looking good for Friday so far. Feeling pretty gutted. I researched and found out one of the meds I have been on for nearly 2 years - Naproxen may be the cause. Feel so stupid that I had not read the small print and also slightly cheesed off that my GP had not called me in to check my BP given my history. Anyway there is nothing I can do other than take the meds and see what happens over the next few days.

So good news I think - op delayed but only from Friday to this Saturday. If I am MIA you will all know it has gone ahead. If I am posting then sadly not.

Shouldn't they be uncrossed for an operation?

Its all done and I am feeling half human again finally 3 weeks later. Been a tough few weeks but now at last the swelling and pain is reduced and I am not completely spaced out on pain killers.
Now to catch up with the AP news for a while ...

I am absolutely delighted you are over the worst. Having experienced my hip surgery all I can pass on as a top tip is take it slow. No mattert how they encourage you to enter the London marathon - forget rushing anything, you will feel so much better doing all in your own time. Glad your'e OK!
