This isn’t from my garden, it’s where I work. There’s a little Camellia bush that I haven’t seen flower yet but this was hidden away. Because of the very cold spring all the Camellias I have seen looked awful this year.

I haven't seen camellias in years, but my childhood house was surrounded by them.

I just happen to have a Camellia blooming in the yard at the moment. Very late to bloom this year (it's been a cool and wet spring), I've seen it bloom in February.

Beautiful blooms Mick and Fumobici. Because of the very cold spring all the Camellias I have seen looked awful this year. The same here - but in Bournemouth where I guess the cold Spring has been moderated by the sea they have been absolutely stunning.

It looks like it's made out of sugar.

I was thinking it looks like it's made of velvet. What is it?

bjd - It's a Hoya. Thats all I know and have quite a large Hoya vine climbing from a small pot. I was actually thinking of repotting this year.' Bixa, I can see it is dripping with its clear syrupy nectar! Just at the bottom is two drops and I spied a further nectar bubble higher up..
STUNNING photo Bixa - well done.

I thought it was plastic, sorry Bixa because it is a smashing shot.

Probably Hoya carnosa.

Thanks, all! I didn't identify it here because this is the "art photo" section. But it's properly identified over in the Cacti & Succulents thread, where everyone should spend more time.

My guess is some kind of bird's nest fern ~ Asplenium somethingorother

Post by mickthecactus on May 12, 2021 20:25:47 GMT
Asplenium nidus I think.

Appropriate. (nido in Spanish means "nest")

In Italian as well. I was just going to make bixa's comment with "Italian" replacing "Spanish". The Italians and the Spanish should cut a deal and throw together a hybrid common language. Wouldn't need to change either too much.

Mick your lovely Birds nest fern looks amazing as it unfurls its leaves! I used to have one in the garden but haven't seen it for sone time - I think it got overgrown by the bigger lillies etc.
Kerouac - what a shot! If I know one thing about poppies, it is that bees love them and there must have been hundreds of bees buzzing over those splendid poppies.

Yes, they were covered with bees.
