They sound much worse off than I have been, poor things. I did accidentally do something right yesterday, so maybe made good karma. A good friend is off to South Africa tomorrow, so we had lunch yesterday. When we parted, I told her that I wasn't going to tell her goodbye, as we'd probably see each other or talk before she left. So, no hugs & kisses, which meant if whatever I have is catching, I didn't give it to her to take on the trip.

Tod will thank you!
Is this the same friend who was in Turkey?

No, a different person. I skyped the other day with the friend I saw in Turkey. She had just arrived in what I had already decided would be my next objective: Marrakech.

Cool! Will your friend still be there?

Maybe. She got sick in Jordan, in some little town near Petra, and said she's sick of traveling for a while, so will probably use Marrakech as a base for a few months. (She also said Petra is better than expected, even after seeing bunches of pictures, etc.)

I think Google Street View now has Petra in it. The little town probably is Wadi Musa.

I am still feeling relatively out of order although I can't say that I am in pain. However yesterday something happened that proves that is the beginning of the end. For the first time in more than 50 years, I peed my pants. That is very annoying and also highly embarrassing. Luckily it happened at home with no witnesses, but still!

Thanks, Mark! I will ask her.
Probably not the beginning of the end, Kerouac, but maybe a side effect of the medication.
I am convinced I could keep these killer sinus headaches at bay if I only had a humidifier, something not to be found here. They most frequently attack at night when I'm sleeping. If I could sleep bolt upright, it would probably not happen, but the nice straw in my stall always tempts me into lying down.

Bixa, it's hard to believe you cannot get a dehumidifier there. I'd be happy to send you one if you could figure out the best way to ship it.

Oh, that is incredibly kind, Htmb! I appreciate that, but the shipping would be outrageous, plus who knows what customs would decide to do with it. I'm just going to have to grit my teeth at some point & check it in my luggage, even though carry-on is really the only way to travel. But thank you!

Uhm, a humidifier and a de-humidifier are completely different things...

I just figured that in Florida you're too damp and in Mexico she's too dry.

True, but when my sons were small their noses would bleed every night unless we ran a humidifier in their bedroom, so I do know we can buy them here.

Bixa, why don't you just put a basin of water near your bed or whatever you use for heating (if you have heating)?

Houses here don't have heating, Bjd. I have an electric heater I use in the bathroom, but it's the little round fan kind. A friend of mine told me yesterday that I might be able to get one in a pharmacy, so will check that out.

Reading through Kerouac's symptoms here I can see why the next thing on the horizon was hospital. Those indications were definitely the body crying out against some awful germ. Kerouac - you must have been wondering....WTF!

Either my allergies are acting up because of this dying tree in my living room, or I'm getting a cold at one of the worst times of year. I'm supposed to be cooking a birthday dinner on Sunday, and I have a list of things to do a mile long. I suppose it could be much worse. I need to suck it up and not whine.

I do hope you feel a lot better between now and tomorrow Htmb. Nothing worse than having to do something under pressure and at the same time feeling just awful. Let us know how it went.

Looking on the bright side, if you really have a lot to do, it keeps your mind off how awful you feel.

Thanks, you two. I doubt anyone will want me cooking their birthday dinner while I cough and sneeze.
One twin lives in Arizona. I've already mailed him his gift, so that's taken care of, but we were planning a little family gathering for the son who lives here. The actual birthday is not until Tuesday, so maybe we can put off the celebration. Either that, or I'd better get organized!

Are you feeling any better, Htmb?
I want to report that I finally located and bought a vaporizer. Yes! Got it at a medical supply store. I have had it for a little less than a week and it's a miracle -- I wake up every morning with NO headache. I have even slept late a couple of tims -- usually guaranteed to trigger sinus revenge -- but was fine when I woke up. This is MAJOR for me!

That's great news, Bixa! A miracle is nice to have happen!
No better, but not a lot worse. Thanks for asking. I shifted my responsibilities, took today off and just rested.

Bixa -would you do me a huge favour and take a photo of your new vaporizer. I think this gadget could help me a lot. When I go to bed at night take an allergex or sinutab tablet. Sometimes (often!) I fall asleep or forget to take it. Next morning I have to blow my nose for the next hour to get rid of the build-up. So darn annoying!
