I thought that the new generations get their political information from TikTok. Only old people read the press or watch television news.

In either the US or the UK, any really promising progressive will be systematically smeared and destroyed by the economically right-wing presses. And the liberal press is as guilty of this as the conservative one, which should really be no surprise because they are all billionaire owned. Not all in the UK: The Scott Trust: values and history

Yes, in that sense the Guardian is an important exception, and for that reason is read far beyond the UK nowadays.

My daughter’s friend is one of those young people who purchased a rally ticket with no intention of ever attending. We’re very proud of her. The tickets were free, and KUDOS to her!

Something to think about also. A lot of people have mixed feelings about Biden. Lots of ambivalence. But when I think about him, I also think about how much genuine affection Barack Obama has for Joe. He really seems to love the man. So for me, if Barack Obama admires and loves this guy, that's good enough for me at this point.

I had not seen that one and watched it twice to see how much it managed to get in.
Huckle, are these shown frequently on on the major networks in the US? The Lincoln Project must be spending a fortune on them, if so. Let's hope some of them penetrate the truth shield worn by Trumpers.

Thanks! I see them because someone shares them on facebook or because they get featured in a news story, but did wonder how much good they'll do beyond delighting people like me and you. And yes, I did wonder if the Putin one you showed wouldn't be over the head of someone gargling the Trump kool-aid.

Tomorrow Louisiana will be holding our long awaited Primary. No clue as to what the turnout will be. Aside from the presidential ballot there are a number of local races and referendums to be considered.
The heat will likely keep many from going out to vote.

I hate to think how hot and humid it must be down there, when we've had NOLA temps and humidity way up here for quite a stretch. Bit cooler now, rain early this morning and there will be more. The farmers dearly need it.

Gratefully, I am not working this election. I opted out last year and in retrospect am so glad that I did. It's early yet and our polling place is just a few minutes stroll away although, in a different location. The former place was in a cafeteria of an assisted living facility. I'll work my way over there eventually. I want to read more closely some of the fine print that is so cleverly woven into many of the referendums that even the most intelligent of persons can't understand. It's designed that way to trip people up. Key words like "taxes" for instance will automatically have the voter pulling the nay lever.

I didn't even bother to go and vote in the primary here yesterday. At a certain point I thought what was the point? It didn't even make the local news last nite or this morning so, I have no idea what the results were and apparently no one else seemed to care.

Yeah, right. When he was elected, he promised to only stay in office for two terms, so he’ll be stepping down after the fall election. I’m not sure what democrat(s) are running for his seat, but they most likely won’t have a chance. The western side of our area is as red as you can get. The six or seven republicans in the race seem to be cut from the same cloth.

No, he'll call up the federal forces to protect him in the White House. That's why he has them in training in Portland.

I thought it was interesting how the French media presented Kamala Harris: "Americans consider her to be black."

She has been quoted as identifying as black in past interviews, but most of the commentators I heard on tonight’s US news shows mentioned her Black and Indian heritage.

I don't think Americans of mixed race are given much choice about the category into which they are placed in the eyes of their compatriots.

She’s the product of The American Dream: daughter of an “East Indian” endocrinologist and a Jamaican economist/ professor. Immigrants who worked hard and thrived in America. The perfect melting-pot candidate. And it doesn’t hurt that she’s smart and pretty, a good debater, and 2 decades younger than Biden. I couldn’t be happier. At lest not til November 4.

It's a shame to say this, but the fact that she doesn't look black and has straight (straightened?) hair is probably a political advantage for quite a bit of the non black community.

I have been looking into the ancestry of the father of Kamala Harris, and it is obvious that he was not very black either. He wrote this about his ancestry:
It is becoming more and more clear to me that the United States still applies the "one drop" rule for anybody with any sort of African ancestry. At the moment, this is probably an advantage for Kamala Harris, but it definitely does not enhance my opinion of ethnic statistics. I'll take the French system any day of the week.
