One thing I’m especially looking forward to is new leadership overall. A new cabinet, new chief of staff, new press secretary, new people leading the country, not just a new president. Saying goodbye to the clowns and enablers.....a very good thing in my book.

Basically he won because he wasn't Trump but what are his policies?

In a nutshell, think a much older, way less charismatic Obama. Hopefully he’ll be a unifier and a good "transitional" president.

He has also made it clear that he will not seek a second term, leaving the door open to the new generation -- Kamala Harris.

Thank god we've also got rid if his appalling family.
Wonder what Melania will do? Divorce?

I'm so glad I backed the right horse from the off….. But I'm afraid Trump is a trouble maker, a sore looser, and on the news the commentary was talking of Trump opening his own TV station and vowing to run again with Ivanka Trump for President……I'm sure I heard that right. Not Melania, but Ivanka. I guess we had better watch this space.?

Melania would not be eligible to run, because one has to have been born a U.S. citizen.

So...who will the new POTUS choose for his inner circle of advisors etc. Will he go for the old school guys he has known for years and trusts, or will he take a few chances with young and diverse teams. Maybe he should take a look at New Zealand's recent election results...
"Two weeks after Labour’s landslide election win, Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern announced a ministry that is more diverse than any seen before in New Zealand.
Of those inside cabinet, 40% are women, 25% are Māori (two in five of those are women), 15% are Pasifika (two in three are women), and 15% are LGBTQI — one of whom is Deputy Prime Minister Grant Robertson.
Beyond the 20 cabinet ministers, there are four ministers outside cabinet and two undersecretaries. Of these six, three are women, two are Māori, one is Pasifika and one is Indian. Green Party co-leaders Marama Davidson and James Shaw are also associate ministers outside cabinet. The diversity of Ardern’s new government runs deep.

I doubt Trump will concede, at least not for awhile. In the Republicans’ eyes, the election isn’t over. There will be lawsuits and it will take awhile before the election is certified and the rest of the votes are counted and, possibly, recounted. I dread the upcoming days so, I am basking today and breathing a sigh of relief. One could feel the release of tension in the streets here. Music, dancing, joy, celebration wherever I went in the city today. That being said, I fear a repeat of 2000, this time on steroids.

It's only been in this administration that there was no dog.
Just saw this elsewhere:

Trump's not given a press conference or said anything yet, has he? I've not missed anything by going to bed then? Cheeto hasn't spoken yet, but according to well placed sources in the WH, it is chaos there, since he basically is refusing to face facts. I think everyone knew this would happen and that his mental competency is seriously in question. I am also annoyed by all the talk in the media of reconciling with the GOP and seeing their "side", etc. There are no false equivalencies with regard to this issue for me. There are not two sides to children in cages. There are not two sides to coronavirus. There are not two sides to white supremecy. I honestly don't know where we go from here, but it's going to be a bumpy ride regardless. I am very happy about Kamala Harris though. I will also say that Twitter is going to be a much less interesting place when (and if) this is all over. In other election related news, here is an amusing bit: ew.com/tv/alex-hirsch-gravity-falls-pranks-trump-voter-fraud-hotline/Are you wondering if I (or anyone else I know) called the Voter Fraud hotline number too? No, we didn't. We really didn't call. Nope, didn't make that call at all. Absolutely did NOT. Edited to add: for a treasure trove of intrigue, if you're on Twitter, follow @angrierwhstaff This individual is on the inside of the WH and frequently tweets/leaks juicy tidbits of what is going on there.

So, while listening to NPR early this a.m. the topic of Biden's relationship with other world leaders came up. (mind you, I am "out of the loop" on so many things, most especially politics around the globe so please bear with me if I come across as ignorant about a bunch of these things). Anyway, despite Prime Minister Johnson's message to Biden congratulating him on his victory, there appears to be not much affection for one another for a number of reasons. Apparently, going back to 2016 Biden made some not so flattering comments about PM Johnson. It will be interesting to see how this plays out in the days and years to come.

It's so odd that this kind of detail can seem so important now, since in past elections just knowing the voting outcome was enough to satisfy people.
Earlier today, I was reading how Rudolph Giuliani was saying that all of those legal challenges that failed were not important because according to him, the state legislatures can decide to give their electoral votes to the candidate of their choice no matter how the stupid people voted.

The Republican Party appears to be in complete crisis and one of the headlines on the CNN website today claims “GOP Chooses Trump and QAnon,” as House Minority Leader McCarthy heads to my state for a meeting with the former president. Also, in the state of Georgia, a conservative district elected QAnon believer Marjorie Taylor Green to a seat in Congress in the last election. In the recent past, this dimwit has made violent statements on social media, claiming we should hang President Obama and Hillary Clinton, and put a bullet in the head of Nancy Pelosi. She’s also made past claims that school shootings were staged/planned. Instead of censuring her, the Republican Party has now decided she should be placed on a Congressional Education and Labor committee. On February 14, 2018, seventeen people were killed and more than a dozen injured when a gunman opened fire at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida. David Hogg, a junior (about age 17) survived and has since become a vocal proponent of stricter gun regulation. Yesterday a video surfaced of the lovely Marjorie stalking this brave young man as he walked in the Capitol Hill area on his way to meet with congressional leaders to ask for support of new gun control laws. The video shows her following this young man, harassing him with questions and then calling him a coward for ignoring her. us.cnn.com/2021/01/27/politics/marjorie-taylor-greene-david-hogg-video/index.htmlI’m wondering, what can old school conservative citizens be thinking about all this. They can’t ALL be racist, gun-toting, conspiracy theorists, can they?

I have been reading quite a lot about Marjorie Taylor Green as well. At least some of the people in Congress have filed a motion to get rid of her. I'm sure it will fail, but at least a few people are doing something.
As for old school conservatives, I only knew the ones from the Deep South who were mostly interested in negroes knowing their place and not disrupting white society. I think the ones in the North were interested in keeping the banks and the industries prosperous and making sure that workers' salaries stayed as low as possible. And of course, their servants were generally negroes, too, since their salaries were lower.
Has much really changed?

I’m wondering, what can old school conservative citizens be thinking about all this. They can’t ALL be racist, gun-toting, conspiracy theorists, can they? I saw the video yesterday of the Taylor-Green creep following and harassing David Hogg. When you consider that parents of primary students killed in school shootings have been heckled and mocked in the same way and worse -- people claiming those shootings never happened -- you have to wonder what it could possibly take to finally convince supposedly decent citizens that something is terribly wrong about our gun culture. Htmb, I think about this all the time and have discussed it with like-minded friends and also with "old school conservative citizens". Yesterday a friend read me an excerpt from this book. It shored up my belief that most "decent" people who vote Republican, who support their asinine interpretation of the 2nd amendment, and who look the other way when liberties of people not exactly like themselves are infringed upon are essentially so frightened of any change that they'll do anything to preserve the status quo.
