Hope you feel better soon Lugg! Our Easter plans are on hold as well as we are still recovering from the flu. We have taken 2 COVID tests over the past few days but all were negative. My husband had COVID in January and tells me this flu is worse than when he had COVID (minus the super ventricular afib it probably caused). We did manage a little food today and my husband is sitting up today. Sorry to hear this, Mich! Hope you’re feeling better soon!

My brother-in-law and his wife did stop by our place on Wednesday on their way north. They kept their masks on, we stayed outside and at least a metre apart and we didn't catch anything from them. She said that she had a runny nose and felt more tired than usual, but no loss of taste or any of the traditional symptoms. They also figured they had caught it in Ireland, given the incubation period.

Feeling human again for parts of today and so I know I will be stir crazy by tomorrow. I dont actually have to isolate although of course I will because I think our English rules are shite and I really do not want to pass this on to anyone else. But ... if I am feeling ok I aim to get get in my car and drive to the hills tommorow ....for some fresh isolated air.

Well, hell, Lugg! I had to read about your bout with covid in another thread, so very belated best wishes for a speedy recovery.
More importantly ~ CAN YOU TASTE WINE YET?

I still don't understand how I survived, hospitalised and confined with no wine and no decent coffee - also very little food as the fare was disgusting.
I'm making empanadas now... about to turn in - it is only 21h/9pm...

Empanadas! Sounds as though you're making up for the awful food time.

Nearly everybody i know got omicron.
Ghey even said in the radio that our queen got it ! If the Royals suffer the same fate as ordinary citizens, what is the point ?
They slso said the latest princess just turned 14 and is striking.

I looked her up. She's a pretty girl, but nowhere near as beautiful as your daughters.

They slso said the latest princess just turned 14 and is striking. In her looks, or in protest at something?

Not to be cruel but my expectation bar for how good-looking I expect royals to be is buried under the floor somewhere. If they don't look like inbred cretins, they've cleared it.

I think the need to talk about royals or look at pictures of them might be a symptom (fever, delerium) of covid.

Got my fourth covid shot this afternoon. The first three were all Pfizer, but this one was AstraZeneca.

The Kimbys got 2nd Moderna boosters this week. And the CDC extended the airliner mask mandate till at least May 3. Two bits of good news. The mask mandate extension was thrown out by a judge, so our flights to Florida were the first in which many or most were unmasked. We maintain our mask-wearing habit in indoor public spaces. I rather like never having a cold anymore!

In France, the 4th shot is proposed only to people over the age of 80.

Based on how I feel right now, I am not going to make it to eighty.
I woke up in the middle of the night with what I assume is a reaction to the AstraZeneca shot -- a pretty violent reaction at that.
It's been really hot here during the day, which means that my not-crossventilated bedroom is stuffy at night. I've been sleeping with a fan on and with minimal bed coverings. What woke me last night was the fact that I was freezing -- not just cold, but with teeth chattering and body spasms and all over pain. Added to this was some nausea and being stuffed up.
I put a blanket on the bed and lay their shivering and in pain. Early this morning I came downstairs to get into the hammock to see if I could fall asleep that way. Getting down the stairs and into the hammock were almost beyond my ability.
This is crappy. If I'd known I would react this way, I probably would have skipped the shot.
(woe is me)

I'm surprised that you were even offered AstraZeneca (which was my first shot) because nobody is using it in Europe anymore (except perhaps the UK). It has turned out to be about as useful as an injection of cat piss.
I certainly would not expect a reaction to it after already having had 3 shots. I certainly hope that you recover quickly.

Bixa, get some fever reducer and some liquids into your body asap, if you haven’t already. Hopefully, you’ll feel better and this reaction will pass soon.

Your reaction to the shot sounds worse than what many people get with the Omicron variant!

Thanks, all!
Htmb, paracetamol and coffee have me feeling way more human now.
Bjd, my son had omicron & that was how it first manifested -- extreme, teeth-chattering cold. I was very surprised to react to the shot in this way.

Bixa, when my brother-in-law and his wife stopped by (at a distance) two weeks ago, she just had a runny nose and felt tired, he had essentially no symptoms even though they both tested positive. Obviously, there are different reactions from different people.

Jeez Bixa. What an awful reaction. I got light fever for each shot - barely noticeable but i make funny dreams once my brains overheat- but you have been through a really painful time. Sorry to read that, hope it is all well now.
Next time don't mix the shot with tequila...

On a Delta flight departing Rome a couple of days ago it was reported passengers were required to wear masks until the plane was airborne. Once up in the air, masks were optional for the rest of the trip.

The four Turkish Airlines flights I took over Easter gave out masks as you entered the plane and it as compulsory to wear them during the flight. I only ever noticed on one flight a couple with a small child sitting near me who paid lip service to the rule and were asked/told probably half a dozen times at least to wear their masks. I think the cabin crew, as it was nearing the end I suppose of having to wear them on flights, didn't seem to want to escalate it to more than just keeping telling them.

Bixa, what you suffered was a Rigor...a nasty occurrence that indicates you have a temperature. Years ago I had the old Typhoid TAB vaccine and had a couple of hours of icy cold or burning hot waves washing over me. I've seen people with malaria shivering but high temps, just glad it isn't common here,
