but why are there THREE thingys in the food section? they don't seem very different at first cruise? I confess, I find this board very very confusing. and that's even after I got rid of the funny yellow building and got it so I can read the headings. oh well.

I think that the different subtle flavors of the three branches will become more apparent when you attain maturity.

they don't seem very different at first cruise? There are differences, and they ain't so subtle either. Maybe give it another couple of cruises?

In principle it is good having a recipe section. In practice, of course, people make comments so it becomes like On the Menu. I don't know why On the Menu isn't combined with the third section, whatever it is called. Voy, you will learn not to make helpful suggestions about the number of branches. The creators of this site are extremely protective about every single aspect of it. I once made a modest suggestion.... Never again.

I think that suggestions for expanding into new areas that have not yet been covered have always been well received, and new branches have been opened.
It is more difficult to understand the rationale of those who wish to remove branches that do not personally interest them even if they interest other people.

I like to visit this site for its broad variety although when you don't know any of the people here, it is difficult to follow the debates.

Not always true. Anybody who only knew Grecian from his ttr rants would be amazed at the different person when they met him.

It's very helpful to read (on the home page) Welcome To Any Port,About Our Port.It gives a very helpful, clear description of the various sections of the Port. I believe it helps alleviate confusion. I think a lot of people come on board and launch themselves without reading this and then express confusion and frustration. This helps alleviate that. It's very well thought out and less cluttered than other forums. Welcome aboard!

I don't think I ever got an answer, until now, via the reply to you. I loved the funny yellow building, as an object of visual delight, but I had to eliminate it so I could read the links.

I think the Don was talking about 'why the three branches?' Although I am perplexed that an excellent food connaisseur like Senor Cuevas would ask such a question, when much of delight of food is based on the discreet differences in taste and texture, I do understand that gastronomy requires a certain amount of patience as well as repeated adjustments of the herbs and sauces.
I am crushed that some of the posters here just want a Big Mac on their menu.

I used to savour the delights of 5 star restaurants around the globe. Now I mostly regard food as medicine.

I have been invited to a few 5 star restaurants (no such thing exists, but I know what you mean), and the quality of the food was always spoiled for me by the stilted ambience and the obsequious waiters. I simply cannot stand a waiter hovering behind me to fill my glass the moment I touch it.

Thats surprising Kerouac. I would pay extra for a waiter to hover and continually fill my glass!

I can fill my own glass myself more efficiently, and also stop filling it when I don't want anymore.

If one does not wish to look for a definition of the purpose of each thread, you can try laying your cursor over the button for the thread and read what it says in the URL line at the bottom of your browser window where the progress bar appears as pages load. It MAY give you a plain English translation for the clever board title. Then again, it may not.
