I just heard that Dan Parks is not starting for Scotland today. I am changing my prediction because I feel that we can beat Wales without that clown playing at 10. Scotland to win in a high scoring game.
None of the teams really did much to impress me. France had some great spells as did Wales today. Scotland v Italy to decide who finishes last again. The BBC showed a table summarising the 10 years of this tournament. France and England had won around 45 games each (France had won 2 more) but Scotland have won only 14 games in the short history of the 6 nations. That is just so bad. Italy have won only 6.
I think that my boys are up for sacrificial slaughter this afternoon!! I will still watch it though. Surely France can not play as badly as they did last week? I am expecting one of the famous French backlashes today. I really hope that it is not a basketball score!!
As long as England beats Wales I will count it as a good day.
One thing I like about rugby commentary, in France at least, is the honest admiration of the commentators for excellent plays, even when made by the opposing team. The commentators here are just as excited to see the opposing team score a magnificent try as one by the French team. I do not see that as much in football.
We did much better than was expected. I was quite proud of them actually, imagine if the referee had spotted the forward pass which led to the decisive French score? No sour grapes from me though, the better team won.
And England were beaten by Wales!! What is going on in the world! Not another Wales GS, please no! They will be truly unbearable if they do it again this year.
I see that France v Wales is being played in Paris on Friday night. Kicking off at 2100 local time. Seems like a first to me but I am now looking forward to some entertainment with my Frday night bottle of Champagne. Bring it on!!
France to outmuscle Wales
Scotland to sneak past Italy
England to finally wake up and beat the ancient Irish team.
Well, Paris has definitely filled up with the supporters of Wales today -- the Champs Elysées was a red sea at lunch. I don't know if they'll all make it to the Stade de France this evening, however. It looked like some of them would already be sleeping it off by then.
And the cherry on the cake is that Scotland beat Italy yesterday and actually played some good rugby in the process. We keep up our record of winning on average one game per season in this championship which is pretty pathetic really.
Well its that time again. Time for Scotland to turn up in London and turn in to jelly then get hammered by England. I am lucky enough to be going to the game but I can not say I am looking forward to it. Anyway, time to get the old kilt on and drink lots of whisky with good friends. Who cares about the game?
