while waiting for the boat to the st. mary monastery in the mljet national park recently, a group of young men carrying something with loud music arrived. they were also talking loudly, carrying beer bottles, and proceeded to take off their shirts and jump into the water at the pier, right next to the "no swimming" sign ... to our embarrassment, after a while we noticed they were speaking german (not that it should matter - but somehow you always feel like it'd reflect on you if it is someone from your country) ... fortunately they did not get into the same boat as we did, it was too full and they had to wait for the next one ...

made that wok dish with the bananas today - was celery, capsicum, zucchini and mushrooms in the wok, and then adding a sauce that mainly consisted of pureed banana and curry powder ... followed the recipe this time, if i do it again, i might add some more spices or other things to make it taste more interesting. and something to change the colour a bit - it tasted better than it looked ...

last night was rice, green peas and turkey strips in some kind of sauce.
today is my turn to cook, and i have to decide whether i want to make gnocchi in tomato-vegetable sauce (with some mozzarella), or some vegetables in the wok (with bananas, found it in my recipe list so i must have made it at some point, but there were no notes about what i thought of it) ... have the ingredients for both, will make the other one on saturday ...

I don't remember which day, but red was for temperatures reaching 40°. it just kind of surprises me that it apparently shows similar temperatures from northern scandinavia to greece ... but maybe the range for green is quite big.

Again, in my experience cycling feels much cooler than walking because a breeze is constantly blowing over you. not as much of a breeze if you only get to cycle at about 6 or 7 km/h though ... but it was fine - it was not that hot (though kind of humid) that day, and a big portion of the cycling was in a forest ...

today was pasta bake with tuna and arabbiata sauce. the other days at my dad's it was bread and various things to put on the bread (cheese etc.) - there, dinner was usually sometimes between 9 and 10 pm - here, it is usually about 6 or 7 pm (though today it was 8 pm because we got home quite late).

over 30 degrees tomorrow, hope i don't make a mistake going cycling with agnes (we are going to visit my dad for a few days at his holiday house, agnes is not so keen, she has enough of traveling for now, but i don't want to cancel and i think once we are there she'll enjoy it). worst case i suppose i could call my dad to come pick us up ...

we only had two days, which was by far not enough, didn't even climb the hill (nor take the cable car) to get a view from above ... i thought it was nice, had been warned that it is quite expensive and very full of tourists. while that was kind of true, it wasn't as bad as it had been made out. we found affordable restaurants even in the old town, as long as they weren't right in the main road, and well, we only did a few select sights, had they been cheaper i might have insisted on more ... and i thought it had a nice and relaxed atmosphere, croatia in general seemed to me an easy country to travel, most people are quite friendly ...

i usually don't want pictures of myself in front of things, or of my family in front of things (i take pictures of my family, or of things) - though i do occasionally ask friends to take a picture of me climbing, for example - and i did ask people to take pictures of me with my phone on the city wall of dubrovnik, twice - mainly because mr. r. and agnes had gone to the beach in the meantime and i wanted to send them a picture of me. one guy took forever to figure out my phone (it takes a moment from pressing the button to actually taking the picture, he always moved the phone too early and thus the picture was taken when the camera wasn't pointed at me anymore), but he was very eager to keep trying until he managed. the other time, the people i asked had just asked someone else to take their picture, so after that i turned to them asking if they could do the same thing for me, while i stand at the same spot they had just stood ... no one asked me afterwards, i had been hoping for a photo-taking-chain ...

ah, funnily that was the place i got into a big discussion with agnes - telling her that even pretending to spit towards anyone (like me) is very rude and can also get her in big trouble - so she said "but spitting on the floor or on a wall is okay, right?" and then was asking where then she can spit if she wants to spit ...

when you decide to eat pizza because that is what one person in the family says they want - and you order two for the three of you, and one of those two is a margherita, because that is what said person insists on (even though the other two would prefer something more adventurous) - and then said person ends up taking three bites and then claims they are full.

the guide book mentioned them (in the case of dubrovnik, there was a list of locations, at other places it was a side note in the general description of sights) - only time i saw some mention at the sight though was in klis fortress near split (mereen), where a small room in the back part of the fortress had some photos from the filming ... some places looked really different, others seemed vaguely familiar - i'll want to rewatch the series at some point and then it'll be interesting if i recognize places that way around ... (we didn't see all filming locations of course, but if we were near something or it was an interesting place anyway, we had a look).
