Red beer was a thing I associated with old men as they were the only ones I ever saw order one here. Quite popular at one time in NW Washington and Lower Mainland BC I understand. You would not see many here now drinking it, I have been drinking it since I was of drinking age, my parents used to drink it, usually in the summertime.

I have been known to buy cola to mix with cheap whiskey (to water the plants of course, not to drink). I usually buy Pepsi Max, but at the Chinese supermarket yesterday, they were sold out, so I actually bought Coca-Cola, a product that I generally avoid. But there was something strange about it because it had a French sticker on the six-pack listing the ingredients. Why would they need to do this? There is no lack of Coca-Cola plants in France. When I returned home, I made an additional inspection and saw that all of the small print on the cans was in Cyrillic. But that could have been any number of countries. I finally saw a web address which was a bit mysterious, ending in UA. So I checked it out and saw that I am now the proud owner of Coca-Cola from Ukraine. Probably the Chernobyl bottling plant.

One more good reason not to drink that stuff at all.

Why would anyone drink any form of Pepsi or any other cola as long as Coca-Cola exists in this world? Coca-Cola is king, which is why it has (rather unfortunately, admittedly) taken over the world.
I drink a maximum of two colas a year, but generally no more than one -- but that one will be the utterly delicious, therapeutic-in-moderation Coca-Cola.

I gave up Pepsi and Coca-cola when I stopped going for a Burger and Shake. Mt.Todd drinks litres of Coca-cola Less Sugar. No sugar free. I think its abominable to drink sweet liquid with a meal. Sweet is reserved for desserts.

As a young adult I would probably have 2 or 3 sodas per week, either Coke or Pepsi. As I got older it became more rare perhaps only with the occasional McDonald's or Wendy's quick meal stop as I really just stopped enjoying the taste.
But, when I began travelling to Europe, I would enjoy a couple while on holiday. The difference was the taste. The Coca-Cola from those little glass bottles you get at a cafe reminded me of what they tasted like as a child. I then realized I was not liking the flavour from the plastic bottles or cans.
I am now finding the same with tonic water. I mostly find it here in the can or plastic bottle versus the tiny glass bottles in Ireland. I have now found a source for Fever Tree in the glass bottles so I will be stocking up on those!

When we were in Ireland, their Gin menus offered quite a variety of tonic water flavors suggesting what Gin is best with it as well with what garnish to pair it with. One of our grocery stores started carrying it here, with about 4 of the flavours.

I have a diet coke occasionally - I have never liked Pepsi and the cheap supermarket brands are just foul. I have now found a source for Fever Tree in the glass bottles so I will be stocking up on those! Yeh Mich ... IMO ...really there is no better tonic water My personal favourite with gin is the Mediterranean tonic. And I love an occasional Marmalade Mule and their ginger beer is perfect for this. Hope you're happy. I am compulsively clicking through those recipes, as though I have the kind of life that involves a rolling lawn, white wrought iron tables, chiffon dresses and elegantly floppy straw hats.

Here, we have what is called a "Moscow Mule". Good quality vodka and ginger beer with a squeeze of lime. Very refreshing.
I had a craving for Scotch on the rocks last week and sated my craving with a Dewar's. I haven't been much of a Scotch drinker but, every now and then I crave it. It reminds me of my father who was a dedicated Scotch drinker.
This evening I am imbibing in a light and semi dry California Sauvignon Blanc.

That makes sense!
I am drinking a non-alcoholic drink I invented this afternoon, this very miserably muggy hot afternoon. I call it The Goldfish Bowl.

I am having a nice crisp and dry Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand that I have become quite fond of. A lot of our friends brought us a variety of different alcoholic beverages after the fire. (also a ton of food!) Mostly wine. But, one gentleman brought us a bottle of Beefeater's Gin. Neither T or I have ever been gin drinkers and I loathe the taste of tonic. But, I found myself one evening having a gin on the rocks and rather enjoyed it.

Gin is nice! Unfortunately for me, I love tonic & can unwisely pour a big g&t straight down my throat on a hot day.
Right now (almost 7 pm) I am having a nice fresh cup of coffee. Only had one cup today & just craved another.

I cannot drink anything caffeinated after 2pm or I will be up all night. I hate people who can have an espresso after dinner like I used to be able to do. T. is one of them also.
