I wish I knew where Lola was at or anyone else following this season.... The Red Sox have clinched the Eastern American Division and to the best of my knowledge the Cardinals have clinched the National League. Where are you Lola? Come out, come out, wherever you are!!!!

All you baseball fans out there!!!!! Tonight is the final game of the World Series between the San Francisco Giants and the Kansas City Royals. It's been an exciting series, and even though I haven't followed the whole season real closely (my BOSOX remained in last place almost if not all season, and, then St Louis lost in the playoffs as did Baltimore...) I'm pulling for Kansas City.
GO ROYALS!!!!

Oh, it's already finishing. When slumming on Trip Advisor, I see people looking for ways to see the games in Europe, but basically the only solution for them is to listen to the games on streaming internet radio stations.
I know nothing about this, but I am choosing the Kansas City Royals, just because I know the Giants are always full of themselves.

Yes, they are, and they have won several World Series already. I was thrilled when the Royals shut them out 10-0 last night.

It was an excruciatingly long night and I barely stayed awake to see the whole thing.
Unfortunately San Francisco Giants won 3-2.
Admittedly, the Giants pitcher was outstanding in stifling the Royals.
Very, very disappointing, and, made me oversleep this a.m. which I did not want to do.

Well, here we are again. I already am fully entrenched in my enthusiasm for "my" Redsox. Friday night they went 19 innings against the enemy NY Yankees and won! Again, last night, they beat them again.
It's a great start, but, again, 'tis a long season...
GO BOSOX!!!!

I am not familiar with 'Rounders' Mark. Do your girls play it?
OK, as previously posted, both Boston and New York games were postponed due to inclement weather (snow!!!)
But, I just looked at the latest updates and it appears we are on for tonite.
This is the last season for my favorite player David Ortiz,(Big Papi), before he retires. He has certainly done his time and will be sorely missed.
Boston has a pretty decent team this season. They really needed to make some changes after last years pitiful season.
We shall see.
It's a long season...

That's good to know. Most people malign baseball when in fact it's a very intricate, complex sport. Moreso than American football, hockey, soccer and basketball.
I s cricket that way too? I am so unfamiliar with it as I have no exposure to it. The most I have ever seen is in some British movies.

You're not dense Casi, just unfamiliar with UK school sports. Though I'm not sure if they still play it. It was meant to be a simple game of hitting a ball and running around a square, like baseball, but with a short bat held in one hand and a soft ball. The distance in sporting activity between rounders and baseball is the same as between netball and basketball.
Cricket has come a long way in recent years but the basic several day Test match is still at its core. However, it's not a sport I really got into and feel that George Bernard Shaw's quote when he refers to cricket in his time, has a ring of truth - "The English are not very spiritual people, so they invented cricket to give them some idea of eternity."

Yes, cricket is very intricate and frequently a game within a game. I played it for 40 years (and football, tennis, badminton, squash and table tennis) and it was infinitely superior to anything else I played. Sure it has it's boring moments but so do most other sports. Cricket learnt a lot recently from baseball throwing and catching in the field. edition.cnn.com/2015/01/20/sport/baseballers-move-to-cricket-julien-fountain/

Thanks for the clarification Mark. I really thought you were pulling my leg. (not beyond the realm of possibility...)
40 years Mick!!! That's quite a stretch of time. I don't think I've committed myself to anything for that long a period of time. Well, no, that's not true. I have always been a avid cyclist and then there's gardening.
( I will read the link later as I am a little pressed for time this a.m.)
Anyway, "my" Red Sox won last evening and the NY Yankees lost. A good beginning IMHO.

Back to the OP. The Red Sox lost last evening against the Cleveland Indians. In the meantime the dreaded NY Yankees creamed the Texas Rangers. Very disappointing.

Because I just know that everyone is dying for an update in this most popular of threads I will do my best.
"My" Boston Red Sox have been holding their own throughout the season which is loooooong.
The race for first place has been tight, tight, tight between Boston, Baltimore and Toronto.
Boston is presently in 1st pace with Toronto and Baltimore tied for 2nd two games behind Boston. and, the dreaded NY Yankees in 3rd place trailing behind by four games.
This is by far the most interesting and exciting part of the season.
Anything can happen....
