That’s curlier than “beachy waves”. I had waves on days 2 and 3.
Back to stick straight on day 4 after washing it.

I met or reconnected with a great friend this week end. She has been my psychologist when i had my burn out, she is a dear friend and the mother of Robin's first and only love.
We had great fun, like we had seen each other last week, and we exchanged souvenirs. Then she said we were such a great family and how resilient and strong etc we have been and still are... Always nice to hear.
Then i opened my laptop and i had a message called 'respect' from another friend, telling me that she was impressed by our family. I was deeply moved. I find it superb that people actually take the time to write such a beautiful message, just out of pure kindness.
And yesterday my wife finally came back from 'holidays' with her mother in southern France. More like nursing full time her mother but something i hope my daughters would do later...
I realised- once more - that the world is a better place for me when my wife is around.
So : a splendid week is starting !
Wishing you the same.

Maybe I am not losing my mind as seriously as I thought I was. For the last few weeks, I have been finding the light in the WC on when I should be off. Okay, I admit that sometimes I have forgotten to turn it off, but the frequency was getting ridiculous. Finally today I found the light on again and impossible to turn off. It won't click anymore. So it has probably been turning itself on when I am knocking about in the kitchen. I could probably fix it, but I wouldn't do a good job, and anyway it is at least 45 years old, so I don't mind buying a new switch at the hardware store tomorrow. In the meantime, the light will stay on unless it decides to turn itself off.

I got my new good headphones today. May do nothing but watch tv and listen to music from now on. Bixa, what kind did you get? Because you are so fastidious and thorough in your research before purchasing anything I would trust that they are top notch. My tendency is to buy impulsively which most times backfires and I end up with something crappy.

Casimira, I pounced on a Buen Fin (Mexican version of Black Friday sales) offer on Amazon Mexico and yes, did research it. You'll be proud to know that even though I really wanted the brown version of the headphones, I saved the extra eleven dollars the brown ones would have cost & spent that on a new pair of pruning shears. One thing I wanted to avoid was too much emphasis on bass, which apparently is a coveted quality by many listeners, but which can mess up the reproduction of dialogue when using them to watch a movie, for instance. Another thing I thought I wanted was over-ear headphones, the kinds I've had up until now, as opposed to the on-ear kind. Because of my new Marshall Major IV set, I'm now a convert to on-ear. Anyway, these are the headphones: www.techhive.com/article/578944/marshall-major-iv-headphone-review.htmlThis may be too long, but it's what ultimately convinced me to buy these headphones ~

I am very pleased! I watch videos -- tv shows, movies, youtube -- with headphones because the sound quality is always better than on my big laptop. But with the headphones I was using, I had to turn on closed caption more often than not.
Because I wanted to test out the new 'phones I looked up "music to test earphones" and click on this selection. What an eye opener! (okay, ear opener)

Thanks Bixa!! Those headphones are exactly the style I am looking for. They have to be cover the ear type because any type of ear bud I try always fall out of my tiny ears. I could give a hoot about what color they are as long as they block out all other sounds. Because of our tight living quarters, it's imperative that one of us has some type of good earphones. T. likes to listen to the radio or music when he is cooking so in order for me to listen to anything in the adjoining room, I desperately need something like yours. Again, many, many thanks.

My pleasure!
You might also want to research noise-cancelling headphones. Many people love them for traveling by air, or just to shut the world out in their daily lives.
Another thing to consider is getting headphones for both of you, tight quarters or not. Many people like them simply because tv, for instance, can sound better over them and of course you can listen to anything as loud as you want without incurring the wrath of the neighbors. Each person in a household having his/her own pair means having them at hand when & where you want them.

I also had problems with ear buds not fitting, but once I realized the pair I’d ordered came with different sizes, I was able to fit to my ears. They are so small that it was difficult at first to see that two other pairs had been included in the packaging (apple).

I have been very happy with the Sony earbuds. They are so snug, though, that I normally can't wear them walking in the street because they block out too much street noise and I can't hear the annoyed people behind me who need to shove past me.

The ones made by Bose are exorbitant so I will continue with my exploration.

Remember that any decent over-ear or on-ear headphones will naturally block out a good deal of outside sound. Noise cancelling is useful for really loud environments such as airplane travel, but may not be necessary in daily life. Also, some people claim that turning on the noise-cancelling feature affects them adversely. This never happened to me, so can't comment. Bluetooth is crucial -- you don't want to have to tether yourself to a device. Even if you are a person who doesn't use Amazon, it's a great resource for checking what purchasers say about products. And speaking of stores that some people won't use, here is one I despise but that has a listening station where you can try out the headphones. The information in the article is quite useful, as well: www.bestbuy.com/site/buying-guides/headphone-buying-guide/pcmcat314600050000.c

But it is not a beefcake calendar although I don't think I noticed anybody nearing retirement. And some of the firefighters are women. (However, Google informed me that there is also a beefcake calendar.)

What possible use would a non-beefcake firefighter calendar be? Might as well get a kitty one or something.

Back when the mail carriers were allowed to go door-to-door with their calendars, by far the most popular were the ones with the baskets of kittens.

We generally stick with the annual Audubon Society calendar that is free as well as the one from The Nature Conservancy. (Free from annual donations to both) I'd much rather look at birds and butterflies than anything else.

I'm very fond of wall calendars and always hunt high and low for 'just the right one' every year. This year we've had one with British holiday posters from the 1920s and 30s...I have an Emma Bridgewater one for 2023 which is illustrated with glorious vegetables and has gardening tips for growing them. It's beautiful. The most impostant thing for me (aside from the look of the thing) is that the weeks start with a Monday on the calender...a lot on sale here have the week starting with a Sunday which we don't like...I get in a muddle. We tend to keep them too...I have about 20 years worth in the bottom of the bookcase they come in handy when trying to remember things...
