I'm surprised he made it this far. Given all his downright crazy insane antics and self destructive lifestyle over many decades he was lucky he didn't die sooner.
Thanks for that link Kimby. I did not know that a movie was made about his life and career. Al Pacino in the lead role is something I would seek out.

I was living in NYC during the heyday of The NY Dolls. I was never a huge fan (I much preferred The Ramones, contemporaries of The Dolls). I did however, go with a friend to a club in downtown Manhattan where they were scheduled to perform. When we arrived we encountered a huge crowd and realized that it was impossible to get in. My friend was devastated but I was kind of relieved.

Mary Wilson was my favorite of the 3 Supremes. (and, in my opinion, the prettiest) She was not the prima donna that Diana Ross was. She remained active up until just before her untimely death and recently made a recording for Black History month.
The Supremes were a huge part of my adolescent years. I still remember dancing and trying to emulate the moves they made. One time I was babysitting for a couple that had a state of the art stereo system with headphones. I was listening to the Supremes "Stop In The Name of Love" and singing along with the headphones on when the couple came home. I didn't hear them but they sure heard me. I was so embarrassed as I have no idea how long they were standing there giggling while I put on my pitiful performance.

Thanks, ma’am! I only wish I had beaten bixa to the punch with the link to the Rolling Stone article which I had copied to my clipboard...

Sorry to hear about Bunny Wailer. Reggae is a vital source in the global South.

"Legendary" rapper DMX has died at age 50. It seems that a lot of rappers don't live to be old.

Really, thank YOU! I had never heard of her until you posted the obituary. It looks as though everything about her was magnificent.

Singer BJ Thomas has died, age 78. Raindrops will no longer keep falling on his head. Perhaps he should be buried with his head protruding from the ground as a personal homage?

I never was much of a fan of ZZ Top but know many people who were/are including my older brother. He went to see them perform in NYC some years back and called me from the theatre sounding like a teenager saying "Guess where I am". Minutes later one of my dearest NYC friends called me and said the same thing and I answered "at the Beacon Theatre to hear ZZ Top". We still laugh about it.

Never heard of her but, if she mentored Emmy Lou Harris she must have been someone special.
