I find it very interesting that the EU flag continues to fly over the Scottish parliament building, and will bet talk about holding another Scottish independence referendum is not going to go away any time soon.

I saw a picture on the internet of five or six Scottish men in Qatar weighing in on today's match.
They were all in the full kilt below but each was wearing a US flag shirt.

Obviously Westminster is afraid of the results if they don't want to let the Scots hold another referendum.
When we were in Scotland, I was surprised to see the Saltire flying everywhere but no Union Jacks.

I'm not so sure. Things I've read recently:-
Last May The Scotsman newspaper reported a poll in which less than a third of Scots wanted another Independence Referendum. Most wanted the Parliament to concentrate on sorting out all the domestic issues and not obsess over independence. This was born out in Have Your Say on the BBC online with page after page of Scots saying the same thing.
An economics professor estimated it would take over 50 years to sort out.
It isn't independence. Instead of being ruled by Westminster they would be ruled by Brussels.
Isn't independence a bit like Brexit? Rather romantic but not very practical in the long run.

This is probably the most offensive video that I have ever seen (and of course I've seen thousands). And at the same time, a lot of what it says is quite possibly true. The American accent of the narrator is unbearable, which leads me to wonder if the whole video would have been as unbearable with a British accent.

Watching a debate on BBC World, I think it's interesting that none of the (British) participants want to offer a reason as to why the current situation is deteriorating. Is all you need really a stiff upper lip?

Given how long the Tories have been selling Brexit, they can't admit that they haven't arrived on the sunny uplands and probably never will.

I wanted to post this a while back but had to wait until I used my laptop. It shows a history of recent PMs in lacterns...

Interesting, the more complicated the lectern, the worse the PM. I had always assumed there was just one at 10 Downing Street and it was just pulled out for use as necessary.
Do they get to take the lecterns home as souvenirs when they are no longer PM?

I am really surprised that they would use different ones. I have no idea what they do in France, but they all look the same to me.

A divergence of lecterns indeed. Is there a sale on? Apart from this all I can reiterate is- BREXIT

Some of the millions the government wasted on PPE during the pandemic by giving contracts to Tory donors and other friends could have provided nurses and other essential workers with a decent raise.

A couple of the lecterns, the bottom middle (more unconventional) one in particular remind me of pulpits. I've never given much thought to their different designs.

No stiff upper lip here . I am a nurse and have been for 40 plus years - the idea of striking has always been an anathema to me and many / most of my colleagues but this sums up how many are feeling ...not just nurses , but paramedics, postal workers, border control, railway and transport staff etc etc

To get away from the useless royals for a bit, I hope I am not the only person who has noticed how much Rishi Sunak seems to have aged in just a few months. I know it happens to all of them, but this seems to be going really fast.

Another woman in power steps down, after Ardern in New Zealand. If only male politicians would step down willingly when it's time, instead of hanging on like limpets on a rock.

I watched her announcement and press conference and appreciated her honesty and her desire to get back to real life before totally burning out. It seems that Jacinda Ardern reached a more extreme level of burn out, even though we always thought of NZ as being a country with few problems other than earthquakes until the Christchurch massacre, the pandemic, and now there is the worst flood in history. Nobody's nerves are that solid.
