If it makes you feel any better, Bixa, that type of thing occasionally happens with A here in the US, too. So annoying. Well, at least the customer service person at AmazonMx to whom I spoke the other day on a different matter was not only good at her job, but a native speaker of Spanish. Ditto the unprofessional one to whom I spoke this evening. If I try to speak to someone representing Amazon US, I'm likely as not to get someone in a foreign country in a 3rd party call service -- also if I call my bank in the US. Amazon Mx is now claiming they tried to deliver my order today, but address was wrong or incomplete. Grrrrrrr. Why couldn't they use the #$*&^% phone to locate me and why do I routinely get my other orders? Liars. I am going to have to fight with the insurance company for reimbursement Htmb, I honestly don't know how you maneuver all of that! Once you get set up with the compounding pharmacy, can't a doctor just write a prescription for the pharmacy's product in order to streamline collecting from the insurance company? Kimby has not logged on for three hours. I'd like to think it's because her reservation came through & they flew home, but maybe it's because it's after 2 a.m. in Florida.

8:20 p.m.
Just got off the phone with a customer service representative who could not find my account because she couldn't get my effing email right -- partly because she wouldn't let me spell it all the way through without shrieking, "Ay, Dios! Ya lo tengo!" or similar into the phone before I finished spelling. Stupid bimbo. While we were having this non-conversation the delivery page, which I had open, added a note saying, "Too bad, bitch -- you're not getting shit today", or words to that effect. They airily followed that up by informing me that I'll get my stuff between the 12th and the 19th. !!!!!!!!
GAWD, am I pissed off!

Mine is a traumita rather than a trauma, especially compared to Kimby's. But it does involve waiting. I've been at home all day waiting for an AmazonMx delivery which will arrive "before 8 pm". It's quarter after six now. I'm in limbo about making supper & the dogs won't get a walk because it's almost dark. It's the consciousness of waiting that makes people crazy.

That kind of uncertainty is nerve wracking. Obviously I hope your confirmed reservation comes through. But, worst case & it doesn't, would it be to your benefit to just decide to stay another week? All of the booking systems must be overloaded, what with cancellations, rebookings, etc., not to mention all the grounded planes. U.S. regulators have since grounded 171 737 MAX 9 planes for safety checks while Alaska and United Airlines (UAL.O), which together have 70% of the 737 MAX 9 fleet, have canceled hundreds of flights this week.source

it does sound like piccalilli Yes, it does & would be good with tongue. All I could envision was pickle relish, which in my mind goes with nothing. Heinz Sweet Relish ~~ Pickles (Cucumbers, Salt, Calcium Chloride), High Fructose Corn Syrup, Cabbage (Cabbage, Salt), Distilled White Vinegar, Alum, Xanthan Gum, Dehydrated Red Bell Peppers, Extractive of Turmeric, Natural Flavoring, FD&C Yellow 5 & Blue 1, Polysorbate 80. Above is what I believe most people in the US think of when "pickle relish" is mentioned.

But seriously, you make THE most appetizing-looking, photogenic salads. After looking at that picture, I'm wondering what's in the fridge that could be turned into a salad, even though I'm not even hungry.

After an ugly, cold wet day yesterday, this morning it was not quite 60/15.5 in the house at eleven am. Outside, it was in the glorious 70s, bright & sunny with a soft breeze. Right now it's 59 in the house, up a degree from @40 minutes ago. Outside is a lovely 76/24. Not only is it nice to have nice weather, but nice clean clothes are drying on the line.

So interesting. The quality of the product is very impressive. Well, it would have to be in order to show it off in Florence!

I'm not getting my head around pickle sauce. All I can think of is pickle relish, and that cannot be right!
How did the tart come out, Kerouac? Do you blind bake the pastry first?
I am going to have rotini because I need to use up some caponata in the refrigerator. It's very nice, even though I had to pad it out with chayote & poblano peppers because I didn't have a lot of eggplant. Even so, my caponata greed meant that I made quite a lot -- there is even some in the freezer. I prefer caponata at room temperature, but it will be pressed into service as a topping for pasta tonight.

I finished all the seasons of Ted Lasso, which I positively adored and now understand why some people go back to the beginning & watch it all over again. Casting around for some other series, I remembered how resistant I had been to Ted Lasso, so decided to give another show that I'd tried & disliked a second chance. This was mainly because of people who'd said, "Ohhh, stick with it -- you'll fall in love with the characters!" Thus it is that I'm about six episodes in to Schitt's Creek and am not even in like with any of the characters nor anything else about the show. Okay, I kind of like Stevie, but only because I'm forcing myself to find some shred of something redeeming about this opus.

Nice weather for you, Mossie. Hope your conditions improve, Mich, & the same for you, Kimby. Brrrr, Kerouac & Cheery.
This morning it was beautiful -- sunny, blue skies, & a light breeze. Around noon I went out to the street for something & thought my eyes had suddenly gone bad. But the blurriness wasn't my eyes; it was fog rapidly rolling in and bringing cooler temperatures with it.

That's a given. New Yorker covers are more comments on times, events, the seasons, etc. They can be whimsical, pensive, incisive or as in this case, political/historical commentary.
