Congratulations, you have re-invented the Italian Summer bar staple: the Shakerato. *executes shaky curtsy*

The Italians stole the English word "shaker" and turned into a past participle. As they will.
Meantime, I'm drinking acqua minerale gassata. As we do.

Yes, one does that when one can. When I got that terrible stomach thing in England, I had the good fortune to come across ginger cordial. That's a lovely thing to mix with acqua minerale gassata or whatever decent unflavored fizzy water one can find. At this moment, after a miserably hot day, I am enjoying a gin & tonic made with Diega Verde*, San Pellegrino tonic water, & some tiny, almost bitter limes from a dwarf tree I have. Quite nice. * Gin from MexicoGin 38% Alcohol infused with Hemp seed, cucumber, lemon and rosemary Dry and refreshing gin

Yesterday i had a Waterloo blonde with a friend, at la ferme Mont Saint Jean, where it is brewed. The farm was actuslly just a bit behind british line during the battle and was used as a hospital. Then i had a second. Then a third. The i slept a bit... These beers are 33 cc and content 7.5 degrees alcool. So one liter at 7.5 is close to a bottle of light wine... Hips. Didnt see that one coming.

And I had a Grim (Grimbergen) with a friend. That's a 6.7 and just one is enough to calm you down, especially on an empty stomach.

As a reward for living through another day of death heat in a fairly positive mood, I am having a very big, somewhat bastardized G&T. It started with a little water & some agave syrup in a tall glass, well mixed. Then came ice cubes and a generous measure of Kirkland gin (Costo's brand -- nothing but the best for this girl). Added the juice of one lime and a bottle of Franklin & Sons light tonic water. After stirring & tasting, in went a couple more cubes & the juice of half a lime. It's quite good and best of all, it's cold.

Sounds just like I could drink it. I had a Kwak. One of those special Belgian beers. Not bad but I’m a normal glass. A good Kwak glass is held by a wooden arm supporting it and has a round bottom like a small ball then goes into a cylinder shape getting larger to the top. It is said the name comes from the sound the beer makes when it flows from the ball into your mouth, usually faster than the liquid you were drinking and quite often splashing you.

We decided to have a little apéritif before supper last night so had a glass of Jurançon wine. It comes from just south of Pau in southwestern France.
