For a change of pace, check out the catalog of skins to give a different look to your forum viewing. Some of the original skins have been updated for a sleeker look with no message banner, similar to the (new) default "any port in a storm" skin. Pick out a skin you'd like to try, then go to Modify Profile and use the alphabetical drop-down menu under Account Preferences. In that same section, you can opt to hide the background image of skins.

Bixa, yes, it's definitely worth a read and I look at it daily. I only posted the update because I think that often people don't read the entire thread. (as I do, of any thread that interests me.) The camera related topics are beginning to be covered in the Image Board and are very good. These updates will now be for threads on Tech subjects within the rest of the Port. They often slip into obscurity.

Ok, for everybody using original Microsoft software.
Best you can get is Microsoft Security Essentials. Google and download.
Doesn't work for my office PC but it does for my laptop.

In addition to ones regular anti-virus program, I highly recommend that everyone add this: www.safer-networking.org/index2.htmlThe first time you run it, it will catch tons of stuff. After that, as long as you keep it updated, very little will ever get through. It's excellent for catching stuff before it gets into your system.

That's Spybot search and Destroy. Yes, good.

But when I run it, it says I need Administrator permission to complete the process of getting rid of stuff.

Aren't you the 'administrator' of your computer? (I am blocked from downloading things at the office due to not being the administrator, but they have finally relaxed a few rules.)

Mark, do you & your wife share a computer? Maybe she is the administrator.

I thought I was. I've just run it again and the same thing has happened. It might be something to do with the 'user' of the computer settings. Like when you can have more than one named user but the account is set up as on work computers whereby only one had admin status. I'll have to investigate further when I've got time.

Nope. As I thought, there is only one user - me. And under the User Accounts I am the Administrator. So it must be something else or a variation on this same thing. I'll have a think about it.

Possible solution - right click on programme icon and click 'Run As administrator'. I'm trying that now.

Let us know how it turns out, please. Sounds as though this could happen to anyone. Sending out an S.O.S. ~~ Is there someone willing to make a thread in Image Bank / Equipment about formatting camera memory cards? I've looked online, and so far have found nothing intelligible enough to give me confidence. Please?

Yep, that worked - to re-cap - I am the only user on this computer so I should be the Administrator. Yet that programme refused to let me complete the process stating it could only be done by the Admin. So I exited it, right clicked on the icon and clicked on 'Run As Administrator'. And it did it.

That's really good to know.
Mark, is the program icon to which you refer part of the Spybot set-up, or something on the computer?

Re: formatting your memory card, just read the manual that came with your camera. Every digital camera I've ever seen has an option in its menu to format the card.

When I downloaded the programme it's just the icon that goes on the desktop, like any other icon e.g. to open Firefox.

Perhaps our newest visitor from Albania has targeted you specifically.
More seriously, I don't see what the problem could be. At the office, my computer has one of the most extreme antivirus filters in the world and it does not react to this.

Not sure which program you're using K2 but malwarebytes does NOT like that flag add-on.

I am having problems getting my photos to Copy Image Location after having imported and uploaded them in the same fashion I have always done. They won't copy. I use Picasa, only because this is what I was introduced to and taught,so,all my pics are in a Picasa Web Album. I see that recently,Picasa merged and is now partners with Google,at least that's what my screen is telling me. I don't know if that has anything to do with my dilemma, tech difficulty. If anyone has knowledge of what the problem may be,please advise. For some weird reason,my difficulty seems to coincide with this recent merging, but,I may be grasping at straws here too. Thanks.

I have a (probably crackpot) theory that certain things on computers act screwy right before Windows does an update. A couple of days ago Imgur, one of the photo hosting sites I use, was acting up and not showing images. Then Windows had a update (yesterday) & things seemed to settle down. Did you get a Windows update yet? That may not have anything to do with your problem. If Don Cuevas doesn't see this thread, you might want to PM him. Here is what he says about Picasa: anyportinastorm.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=general&action=display&thread=4351 (#7) In this thread, Fumobici says, OK I love Picasa as an image editor, but I'd never used it to put up pics on a BB. It is a little clunky- you have to upload then r click on photo > properties > copy the URL, but it seems to work fine.I'm assuming that the process he describes is what you're referring to as "Copy Image Location", correct? You may not be wrong that the problem is related to the Picasa/Google merger. A few months ago, Photobucket arbitrarily decided to pull the rug out from under TinyPic users. Apparently the uproar caused them to reconsider. Before that, they'd disabled signing up with TinyPic. You might want to check to see if you can once again become a TinyPic member: tinypic.comWhether or not you sign up with TinyPic, it's a good idea to have more than one hosting location if you're using a free site, as they all seem to have storage limits. (So you might want to check if you've passed your free limit on Picasa.) Also, ones preferred hosting site might be fine for most things, but too slow or clunky when one wants to quickly host just one picture.

I can't thank you enough for helping me address this..... Yes,the image difficulty thing on the board, seeing other people's pics ,or rather not seeing.... started around the same time....and yes,I am referring to the Copy Image Location feature...... I will look into the Tinypic thing for sure,I had wanted to some time back and was told it was no longer available. Very frustrating. I am having breakfast with my guru this morning and will see if we can further delve into this.... I can't help but think that the Google/Picasa merger doesn't have something to do with it,and maybe I have to reregister or something...dunno... Am such a Luddite too, which doesn't help. Thanks again
